Keeping things organised – Take 2

So a few months ago I tried a card wallet project from one of my craft books – Makery. If you missed that post you can find it here. The overall impression was that a few improvements could be made to the card wallet to make it more useful. I found it to be a bit too large and my cards often fall out of their slots. Since I still have a few store loyalty cards that I need to carry around with me I decided to try a different project. So this week I made Pellon’s Loyalty Card Wallet. And I am much happier with the end result!

The tutorial for Pellon’s Loyalty Card Wallet is available on their website. It is a free project and is perfect for beginners. The tutorial has lots of photo’s and the instructions are very straight forward. It will also take you no time at all to assemble so it’s a great afternoon project.

There’s a small list of materials needed but most will be in your sewing box already – like a spare button! And it’s great for using up those scrap pieces of fabric. I just love the leaf and flower fabric which I had left over from another project that I’m currently working on. The button was a lucky find from eBay and I think it works perfectly. I made my second wallet out of some very groovy retro inspired fabric. I also decided to use a longer piece of elastic and omit the button.

Overall I’m much happier with this card wallet. This one is much smaller and the cards fit nice and snug in their slots. There are still only 4 card slots but I think you could definitely add 2 more with some adjustments. That’s probably the only changes I would make. I’m now ready for those shopping trips with my new card holder!
