New Years ReSEWlutions 2026

Changes need to be made….

Last year was so busy that my blog did get neglected a bit. Several reasons for this- some of them not within my control. Although my 6 week holiday overseas probably didn’t help. So I’ve taken the opportunity through my New Years ReSEWlutions 2026 to think about the future.

Sewing Machine & Fabric

One thing I’ve always been open about is my MS diagnosis. It’s something that has a huge impact on my life and therefore my sewing/website. The last few years things have gotten increasingly more difficult.

Unfortunately I don’t have the energy to continue doing everything I used to. So I realise that going forward I’m going to have to make some changes. Particularly when it comes to prioritising the things I love. So my New Years ReSEWlutions 2026 will reflect these changes.

New Years ReSEWlutions 2026:

  1. Spend more time sewing! Let’s just face it – it’s my #1 love.
  2. Release one sewing pattern for sale. I’ve already started this pattern and been working on it intermittently over the last couple of years. I would love to get it finished.
  3. Release two sewing tutorials on my website. I really enjoy making tutorials for others to make. Plus I have quite a few that are a work in progress and many more ideas for future tutorials.
  4. Concentrate on clearing the WIP pile before starting new projects.
  5. Reduce the amount of blogs I publish on my website. Instead of monthly posts I’ll be writing quarterly updates. Projects I’ve finished, started, or about to start. Information on what’s coming up etc. This way I can spend more time/energy on patterns and tutorials.
  6. Continue building a presence on social media. I’ll be focusing mainly on Instagram and Facebook. I’ll keep people updated on there.
  7. Something I would love to do is sell my makes at a craft market. There’s not nearly enough inventory but I’ll continue building it up.

I’m hoping that focusing my energy to a smaller number of tasks/goals will make a difference. I figure it’s better to complete a few tasks well than a lot badly. Or to leave tasks undone. I’m sure most of you understand.

Recent Projects

Christmas is always a busy time for making! We had Stephen (Spencer’s stepdad) staying with us and wanted to make something special. I know he appreciates a man bag, so I made him the Sandhill Sling by Noodlehead. It was the first time making this bag pattern so I took it slow. Particularly the last step (sewing exterior and lining together) as this is the first time I’ve assembled a bag this way. Very pleased with the outcome!

Another gift was a collection of makes – all made from the one fabric. A Key Ring Wristlet, Reusable Make Up Wipes (plus bag to wash them in) and a Keychain Zipper Pouch. The fabric is the last pieces from one Ginta (gift recipient) gave me. So I knew she’d love the fabric. Always great to use up “scrap” fabric.

Last but not least! I made these very cool Bandana Bibs for my niece Jemila. I’ve actually made this pattern before. So if you’d like to know more you can read about it here. There’s not really a theme to the fabric choices. Although the Alpaca fabric is for her mum.

Still an exciting year ahead! Filled to the brim with sewing, sewing and more sewing. I’ve also got a new iron on the way – which I can’t wait to use. You know you’re really a sewer when a new iron is the highlight in your New Years ReSEWlutions 2026! 😂
