Pedlar Foldover Tote

The first of many I hope!

Sorry for the lateness of this post. I’m hoping that you will forgive me when I tell you what I’ve been working on. My very first bag pattern! It’s been slowly coming together in the background for a while now. And I’m happy to announce that it’s finally finished – my Pedlar Foldover Tote! 😆

When I first started sewing bags I didn’t really think about making my own patterns. I can’t remember when I started to design this pattern or what the inspiration was. It just grew out of a desire to make bags exactly how I like them. And so the first version of my Pedlar Foldover tote was born. 

This pattern is aimed towards advanced beginners/Intermediate sewers. It has many optional features, like the elastic keyring chain or magnetic snap closure. Omitting these steps will simplify the  pattern. I’ve tried to explain each step clearly and concisely- with accompanying graphics to assist. Plus don’t forget my information & techniques page as this might also help.

What do I love? Pretty much everything (obviously 😉)! I’ve made sure to include plenty of pockets for those who, like myself, love pockets. Some of them are optional (like the internal zipper pocket) so if you don’t like zips you can choose to leave it out. I also love the elastic key chain because it makes finding your keys so much easier. 

I think my Pedlar Foldover Tote makes the perfect day bag. It’s got plenty of room for all my daily necessities- sunnies, iPad, etc. I’ve also made it a crossbody which is my preferred way to carry a bag. But you might choose to carry it via the handles or shorten the strap to make it a shoulder bag.

It’s been quite a journey making my first pattern. And I’ve loved every minute of it! But this pattern wouldn’t have been possible without my lovely pattern testers.
