Supporting Your Sewing Community

Giving a Helping Hand…

This week I’m taking time off talking about my own sewing adventures. Instead I want to talk about our wonderful sewing community. Although I do all my sewing at home, I know that beyond my front door there is a whole world that shares my passion. I never feel alone! And I love reading and seeing what everyone else is sewing and creating. Social media means we can now share and exchange ideas with a whole world of sewers. But I think it’s just as important to support our local sewing community. And I’m very lucky in Melbourne to have a great creative community around me. So when Katly from All Things Sewing and Craft got in touch and told me about her charity raffle. I wanted to help out in anyway I could so I’m happy to help her get the word out!

Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research

Katly is working with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre to raise money for their charity. There are five prizes to be won – all of which have been donated for this great cause.

Katly:

We have all been touched by Cancer in one way or another. I personally have lost both my Parents, Grandfather and Father In-law to Cancer, I believe that the ONJ can help many cancer patients with services and research as well as clinical trials. Band together with me and help me reach my goal of raising $5864 by purchasing a ticket for this great cause.
Charity Flyer

The tickets are $2 each. You can purchase them via TryBooking or Katly directly. The All Things Sewing and Craft facebook page has all the information on the raffle. Now, unfortunately it’s only available to Australian residents. But if you are one of my overseas readers I urge you to find a charity in your local area to support. It’s a great way to help other people and meet new friends. The sewing community is so large and it’s great to be a part of it. Katly’s hard work should be an inspiration to us all. I’ve got my tickets – so make sure you get yours!

  1. Hi, Dianne thank you so much for supporting my raffle and writing this fabulous post about it and me. I really appreciate your support. With the 5 fantastic sewing-related prizes I thought your audience would like to try their luck in winning these prizes and at the same time heme raise money for the ONJ Cancer Centre. I have posted your blog post in my Facebook group for all my members to see. Once again, thank you!!
