Goals for 2020

A new year means new sewing projects!

I know it’s the end of January already but since this is my first post of the year (slow start!) I  thought I should set out some new goals for 2020. And, luckily for me, my sewing and crafting goals are always my favourite ones to achieve. I’m also aiming to make great improvements to my website and work on getting some new items up in my etsy store. All very exciting!

There are of course a mountain of new sewing patterns and projects that I want to add to my to do pile! As usual there are a ‘few’ bag projects that I’m going to tackle such as Noodlehead’s Fika Tote and Range Backpack, and ithinksew’s Brendan Backpack and Madison Hunting bag. I also have some Swoon bag patterns I’ve been itching to try such as the Brooklyn and the Denver. These are all some of my favourite bag designers but I’m also going to try out some new ones. Spence got me the Maywood Tote pattern by Klum House for Christmas. I’ve never made any of their patterns before and this one looks like it might be quite a challenge!

Last year I made an effort to expand my knowledge and confidence in sewing clothes. I did make some strides in this direction but on reflection I think I could have done better. So another one of my goals for 2020 is to devote more time to sewing clothes. I really want to be able to say that I made most of the items I’m wearing, and I know that’s extremely ambitious, but some goals need to be. I’m hoping to start off with ithinksew’s blouse pattern Shiloh. I also have Merchant and Mills Factory Dress which has been tempting me for a long time. And I’ve just purchased some Vogue dress patterns. For a beginner like me, they are sure to be quite time consuming and complicated!

My other goals for 2020 include working tirelessly on getting my first bag pattern released. I know this is one of my unfinished goals from last year so I’m extra keen to get this one completed. I’ve also got quite a few tutorials that I’m half way through completing that l really want to finish. I’m sure you are all just as keen to see them on my website as I am! As well as a promise to try and keep posting on a regular basis to all you lovely people. I had a very busy December and January but that’s no excuse. I will make it my mission to get a post out every week.

Last year I also neglected my Etsy store Pedlar Creative which I want to rectify. I feel it could be a great place for people to find something unique and special for themselves or as a gift. I promise I’ll try to get something new listed in my store on a regular basis. So please be patient! And of course I can’t forget to mention my facebook page and group PedlarBites. These will remain a great place to share projects and ideas and general creativity!

It’s quite a long list of goals for 2020, but I’m being optimistic and I’m going to put all my effort into completing them. There will no doubt be some tears and frustrations but also excitement, learning and a great sense of accomplishment. I’m sure it will be quite a challenge seeing them through but as Spence would say ‘challenge accepted!’
