Noodlehead’s Canvas Pencil Pouch

Project on repeat!

You know that you really love a pattern when you find reasons to make it over and over again. That’s how I feel about Noodlehead’s Canvas Pencil Pouch. I made one a couple of years ago for my niece’s Christmas present. It was such a hit that I decided to make some for my nephews as well.

I wrote up a post last year on Noodlehead’s Canvas Pencil Pouch tutorial and if you missed it you can find it here. I’ve modified the pattern slightly for these new pencil pouches by making them an inch higher. My sister in-law mentioned she wouldn’t mind them being slightly larger so that they could hold more pencils and crayons. It was quite easy to add the extra dimensions to the pattern. I also decided to personalise them with iron on lettering. It just makes them so much more special for a present.

The fabrics that were used were my sister in-laws choices. It’s the best thing about technology and the ability to send photos. I just went down to Spotlight and took photo’s of several fabric options. There are just so many fabrics for children it can be hard to choose. The pencil fabric was the one she chose. It’s just so cute! I purchased the bear print fabric from fabric.com. I feel like both options can be used for children of all ages.

Something I do want to highlight is that the Canvas Pencil Pouch tutorial is free to make so I really recommend you check it out. It’s such a great project and so useful – who doesn’t need at least one pencil case to keep all your stationary together. And’s it’s a great present for children! Just fill it up with pencils and accompany it with a colouring in book and you’ll be the favourite Auntie!

  1. Love your pouches! Could you share where you got the pattern for your lettering? It’s such a cute and distinctive font. Thanks!

    1. Hi Peg,
Thanks so much! It’s an iron-on embroidery lettering that I purchased on Etsy. I know – it’s super cute and perfect for the kids! If you need more information just let me know.
